Uniform to Yarn; Our Uniform Recycling Program is Here ♻️

After months of consultation and planning, we’re thrilled to announce that we have partnered with Textile Recyclers Australia (TRA) to correctly upcycle our old uniform.TRA’s mission is to keep apparel and other textiles out of landfill, whilst investing in circular solutions for the textile industry.
Since inception, TRA have saved 665,535kgs of unwanted textiles from landfill!By partnering with TRA, the Y can help continue to keep uniforms out of landfill and help work towards creating a resource for new products.
Not only will TRA recycle our uniform, but they also help support the wider community with their charity work. They often receive brand new products with tags from some of their partners and donate these to two charities. One for woman and children impactedby domestic violence, and one for men experiencing homelessness and mental health issues.

If you’d like to read more about the work that TRA are doing within the textile industry, please head to their website texrecaus.com.
For Y Services, it was important to find a solution that best supported our people, and that’s you. A simple solution with three steps only. Packing a box, purchasing a pick-up, and waiting for the courier to arrive!

With your help, and support of this program, that we can continue to work towards our National 2030 strategy of a more sustainable planet. Helping divert all our uniforms from landfill and reducing our impact on our planet is a big initiative to do just that.

Please find the attached PDF document which outlines the process, and how you can go about booking your first uniform pick-up today.

Please note that TRA close for the Christmas break, and therefore the last date to book a pick-up this year is the 16th December 2022. They will be back open from Monday the 9th of January 2023.

As always, we value your feedback and encourage everyone to help us improve this process if required.
